SZ Symphony Orchestra
Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra will collaborate with Chinese violinist Yang Tianwa to present Bruch’s “Violin Concerto No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 26.” The orchestra will also play Bruckner’s “Symphony No. 7.” Taijiro Iimori will wield the baton. Iimori is one of Japan’s most distinguished conductors, widely respected for his broad repertoire.

Yang Tianwa
Yang recorded her first CD in 2000, at the age of 13, with a recording of Paganini’s “24 Caprices” on the Hugo Classical label. Yang debuted in Europe in 2001, performing with the Czech Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra in Prague. In 2003, she was awarded a special two-year scholarship by the German Academic Exchange Service to study chamber music in Germany. She also had her debut performance at Berlin Philharmonic Hall in 2007, which was broadcast live by Deutschland Radio.

Free harmonica concert
Musicians from Hong Kong and Shenzhen will present a harmonica concert. Some tunes will also feature violin, guitar and piano. Entry is free and no sign-up is necessary.

BBC Symphony Orchestra
BBC Symphony Orchestra will play Beethoven’s “Egmont Overture,” Mahler’s “Songs of a Wayfarer” and Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 10.” Andrew Davis will wield the baton.

Davis is currently music director and principal conductor of Lyric Opera of Chicago, chief conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and conductor laureate of both the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
