Founded in 2019 by the Shenzhen Concert Hall, the Little Golden Tree Children’s Choir has earned widespread acclaim from both music critics and the public.

In its brief yet illustrious six-year history, the choir has delivered numerous concerts, including collaborations with renowned singer Gong Linna and a participation in “Carmen,” a co-production of the Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theater and Germany’s Staatsoper Hamburg.

Their signature program, “Echoes of Traditions: Folk Music Charm — Multi-Ethnic Children’s Choir in Concert,” has been staged to warm receptions in multiple cities across China. The choir further distinguished itself last year by winning the Double Gold at the 13th World Choir Games in New Zealand.

Since its inception, the ensemble has created a wealth of original songs, including "Red Flowers, Blue Sea," “Jinuo Mountain,” and “Song of Nature.”

The “Echoes of Traditions” series has showcased cultural inheritors and ethnic choirs from over 20 ethnic groups across China, performing alongside Little Golden Tree not only at the Shenzhen Concert Hall but also on prestigious stages such as the National Centre for the Performing Arts and the Xinghai Concert Hall.

This year’s concert welcomes the Petersburg Serenade Choir under the artistic direction of Yegor Alexandrovich Losev. Affiliated with the music college of the National Herzen University in St. Petersburg, the choir has garnered numerous accolades, including the First Prize and Grand Prix in the chamber choir category at the 14th International Choral Festival Competition.

For Sunday’s performance, Little Golden Tree will present original works and songs rich in ethnic character. A highlight will be their original piece "Song of Nature," which draws inspiration from wildlife native to Shenzhen, such as the leopard cat, sperm whale, and black-faced spoonbill.

The Russian choir will perform works in Russian, Dutch, and French. Their repertoire will feature the contemplative and mystical "Colors" suite, selections from film and opera, as well as quintessential works by Russian composers, including Tchaikovsky's "Lullaby" and Rachmaninoff's "Vocalise."
