On the evening of Feb. 12, the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra (SZSO) is preparing a delightful Chinese work concert for music fans to celebrate the Lantern Festival.

Bruce Liu, who has just bagged the “Young Talent of the Year" OPUS KLASSIK award this year, will once again grace the stage of the Shenzhen Concert Hall this Saturday. He will perform Tchaikovsky’s “The Seasons,” Scriabin’s “Piano Sonata No. 4 in F-sharp Major, Op. 30,” and Prokofiev’s “Piano Sonata No.7 in B-flat Major, Op. 83,” among other pieces.

Teodor Currentzis, a rising star in the classical music scene, made his sensational debut in China last year, but he didn’t stop by Shenzhen on that tour.

As a tribute to the 25th anniversary of Macao’s return to the motherland, the Shenzhen Concert Hall has arranged for a youth orchestra from the region to perform a “Beautiful Sunday” concert for local enthusiasts. The venue’s other public benefit series, “Afternoon Music Time,” will include performances featuring Chinese instruments, ukulele, and piano four hands.
