The Vienna Boys Choir, one of the world's most renowned children's choirs, has a 500-year history and is considered an Austrian national treasure alongside the Vienna Philharmonic. It has nurtured many musical geniuses, including Mozart, Haydn, and Schubert. Esteemed collaborators include Karajan, Bernstein, and Carreras, among others. The choir's performances are cherished by audiences, including figures like Clinton, Kennedy, and Disney. Celebrated conductor Toscanini once praised it as "the world's finest choir."
Originally the Austrian Court Choir founded in 1498, the Vienna Boys Choir has produced numerous music masters and collaborates with many prestigious orchestras. They perform over 300 concerts annually worldwide, enchanting more than 500,000 audience members. The choir's training incorporates centuries-old German and Austrian traditions, combined with modern techniques, fostering exceptional musical talent and stage presence in its young members.
Jimmy Zeng
Born in Hong Kong, conductor and pianist Jimmy Zeng began his musical career at age 13. He studied piano, composition, and cello, earning a diploma from Trinity College London and a Bachelor of Music from Baylor University in the USA. He furthered his studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, earning a Master of Arts with distinction. Zeng won the 4th International Young Conductor Competition in Croatia in 2007.
Since 2008, Zeng has been the principal conductor of the Pan Asia Symphony Orchestra in Hong Kong. He has held positions as assistant music director for Wagner's "Ring" at the Lübeck Theatre and principal conductor at the Freiburg Theatre. In September 2013, he became the choir conductor for the Vienna Boys Choir. Zeng has also guest-conducted at various prestigious venues and festivals worldwide. In 2004, he was invited to study and work under maestro Seiji Ozawa.
