Pianist: Zhang Fang
Pianist, Yamaha Artist, Associate Professor and Master Supervisor at the Piano Department of Tianjin Conservatory of Music. Board member of the Chamber Music Society of the Chinese Musicians Association. Former Head of the Music Department at the School of Arts, Renmin University of China. In 2019, he was selected for the first batch of the National Art Fund's Youth Stage Art Performance Talent Project. He has won awards in the 12th Southern Missouri International Piano Competition, the 2nd VIARDO International Piano Competition, and the special prize from the Rachmaninoff Society; he also received the first prize in Art Guidance at the JESSE KNIESEL Art Song Competition in the United States. Graduated from the affiliated high school of the Shenyang Conservatory of Music and the Piano Department of the Central Conservatory of Music with a bachelor's degree. He holds a Master's degree in Piano Performance from the Eastman School of Music in the USA, where he was awarded a Performer Certificate. He earned a Ph.D. in Music Composition from Capital Normal University, specializing in Composition Technique Theory and Music Analysis. Since 2001, he has taught at the School of Arts, Renmin University of China, where his students have won numerous accolades in domestic and international piano competitions. In 2010, he received the "Excellence in Teaching Award" from Renmin University of China; in 2017, he was awarded the first prize for Educational and Teaching Achievements at Renmin University of China. In 2018, he was approved to lead a major project funded by the Ministry of Education's Humanities and Social Sciences Research Planning Fund; in the same year, he was also approved to head a key project for Educational and Teaching Reform at Renmin University of China. In 2017, he founded the "Two Festivals and One Competition" practical teaching brand project, establishing an important academic brand activity for the music discipline. From 2017 to 2020, he was the artistic director of the four consecutive Music Festivals of the School of Arts at Renmin University of China. He served as the Head of the Music Department at the School of Arts, Renmin University of China (2015-2021) and Deputy Director of the Public Art Education Center (2020-2023). He is a member of the sixth council of the Beijing Musicians Association. In 2024, he was transferred to Tianjin Conservatory of Music as a talent introduced by Tianjin.

Conductor Yang Yang was born into a musical family and began learning piano at an early age under the tutelage of piano educator Professor Li Qifang. He later studied conducting with maestros Xu Xin and Wu Lingfen and was admitted to the Conducting Department of the Central Conservatory of Music with outstanding grades, studying under renowned conductor and President of the Central Conservatory of Music, Professor Yu Feng.
In November 2006, Yang Yang won first place with an exceptional performance at the Dimitri Mitropoulos International Conducting Competition in Greece, becoming the first Chinese conductor to achieve this honor in such a prestigious international competition.
Thanks to the discerning eye of Maestro Yu Long, Yang Yang successfully launched his professional conducting career at the First Beijing International Music Festival in 1998 and continued to conduct operas and concerts at the festival for eight consecutive editions. From 2000 to 2016, he served as Assistant Conductor and Resident Conductor of the China Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2006, he attended a master class hosted by Maestro Myung-Whun Chung in Korea. In 2009, he led the formation of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra and founded the Hangzhou International Music Festival in 2017.
Since 2009, Yang Yang has served as the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, successfully leading the orchestra into its fifteenth music season. Over the past fourteen years, the orchestra has made notable appearances at several renowned European music festivals, including the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival, Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival in Germany, and the Ravello Festival, Emilia Romagna Festival, and Taormina Festival in Italy. Additionally, the orchestra has toured Russia and Estonia, earning widespread acclaim.
Yang Yang currently holds the positions of Music Director and Principal Conductor of the China National Opera House, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Hangzhou Philharmonic Orchestra, Music Director of the Hangzhou International Music Festival, and Artistic Director of the Central Conservatory of Music Youth Symphony Orchestra.
