Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Children’s Choir

Regarded as a cultural card of Shenzhen, Lily Children’s Choir was founded in 1997 and comprises of students from Shenzhen Senior High School with remarkable music talent, profound affection for choral music and excellent performance. For years, with generous support from the municipal government of Shenzhen, the choir promotes ethnic music with an aim for cultural exchange. It has won prizes in major choral competitions home and abroad and released several albums including Rainbow After Rain and The Collection of Chinese Folk Chorus.

In 2011, The choir has invited to take a series of domestic tours at National Centre for the performing Art of Beijing, Shanghai He-Luting Concert Hall and Shenzhen Concert Hall, and has made a huge success. In September 2011, Lily choir was invited to hold a featured concert successfully in Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium stage. After that, they went to New York and Houston for concerts. In October, they were invited by the NCPA to perform under the baton of Yoel Levi, a world famous conductor.

The choir has won many awards. In the “5th International Johannes-Brahms Choir Festival & Competition” in Germany, they were awarded the first prize respectively for two categories “Children’s Choir Competition” and “Folklore”. In the “36th Tolosa International Choral Festival” in Spain, the choir was awarded the first prize for Children’s Choir competition.

Conductor: Hu Manxue

Hu was born in a music family and began to study piano at six. From 1997 she became a faculty member of Shenzhen Senior High School and was a founding member of the choir, in charge of piano accompaniment and stage choreographing. In 2005 she pursued further research at conducting department of Central Conservatory of Music. Having been the conductor for Lily Children’s Choir since 2010, She won the prize for Outstanding Conductor in the first “Shenzhen Chorus Festival”. She was honored one of the ten the Excellent Teachers in Teaching Service by Shenzhen municipal government.

Piano: Peng Chuan

Peng began to study piano at an early age. She graduated from Jiangxi Normal University piano department. In 2000, she pursued further research study at Central Conservatory of Music. From 2006 till now, she serves as a faculty member of Shenzhen Senior High School and in charge of the piano accompaniment of Lily choir.

　　
Piano: Jiang Jiawen

Jiang Jiawen, who has learned piano since childhood, was enrolled in Arts Department of Shenzhen University Normal College and learned from Associate Professor Youdan Zhang. Jiawen has won many competitions and awards. She won the Gold Award of Youth Group in the 3rd Cadenza Cup National Teenagers Chinese Piano Work Playing Competition. In 2010, Jiawen was invited to performance with Wiener Festival Orchestra at the 2010 New Year Concert held in Shenzhen Concert Hall. On August 21, 2011, Jiawen held the “Sweet Music – Jiawen Jiang and Min Ni Piano Concert” in Shenzhen Concert Hall.
