Shenzhen Senior High School Lily Girls Choir
Regarded as a cultural calling card of the city of Shenzhen, Lily Girls Choir was founded in 1997 and comprises of students from Shenzhen Senior High School with remarkable music talent, profound affection for choral music and good performance from all aspects. For years, with generous support from the municipal government of Shenzhen, the choir promotes ethnic music with an aim for cultural exchange. It has won prizes in major choral competitions home and abroad and released several albums including Rainbow after Rain and The Collection of Chinese Folk Chorus.

The choir has also toured extensively around the globe including Australian, Canada, Austria, Korean, UK, Spain, Germany, Serbia, North Korea, Japan, USA, Hong Kong, Macau, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, highlighted by a critically acclaimed official visit to Pyongyang in 2008 and appearance at the flag handover in Belgrade on the closing ceremony of 25th World University Games.

 

 

In 2011, The choir was invited to take a series of domestic tours at National Centre for the performing Art of Beijing, Shanghai He-Luting Concert Hall and Shenzhen Concert Hall,and made a huge success. In September 2011, Lily choir was invited to hold a featured concert successfully in Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium stage. After that, they went to New York and Houston for concerts. In October, they were invited by the NCPA to perform under the baton of Yoel Levi, a world famous conductor. They also achieved greatest successes in performing Mahler’s Symphony No. 8, together with China National Symphony Orchestra, China NCPA Concert Hall Orchestra, China National Symphony Orchestra Chorus and NCPA Chorus. Children’s pristine sound, just like the voice of angel, was highly acclaimed by conductor, all peer and audience. The choir has been frequently engaged to perform in major concerts and charity events. A large number of conductors and orchestras enjoy collaboration with the choir including Yoel Levi, Zhang Guoyong, Yu Feng, Christian Ehwald, Chen Xieyang, Chen Zuohuang, Alain Pâris, Li Xincao, Lin Daye, China National Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, China NCPA Concert Hall Orchestra, Russian National Symphony Orchestra, Russian National Ballet, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, China National Opera House, Shanghai Opera House, Macau Orchestra and Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra.

Awards:
In the “5th International Johannes-Brahms Choir Festival & Competition” in Germany, awarded the first prize respectively for two categories “Children’s Choir Competition” and “Folklore” and “Johannes-Brahms-Chorpreis (champion) 2007”
In the “36th Tolosa International Choral Festival” in Spain, awarded the first prize for Children’s Choir competition.
At the “2nd Busan Choir Olympics”, awarded three gold medals for Youth Choirs with equal voices、Folklore without Instrumental Accompaniment and Scenic Folklore respectively.

 

Director/Conductor:Hu Manxue
  Member of International Federation of Choral Music, member of both Chinese Musicians Association and Chinese Choral Music Association. Hu was born to a music family and began to study piano at the age of six.
  From 1990-1997 she taught at Jiangxi Normal University piano department and presented a recital in 1995. From 1997 she became a faculty member of Shenzhen Senior High School and was a founding member of the choir, in charge of piano accompaniment and stage choreographing.
  In 2005 she pursued further research at conducting department of Central Conservatory of Music. She was one of the ten recipients of the Excellence in Teaching Service awarded by Shenzhen municipal government.

 

Piano Accompaniment: Peng Chuan
Peng began to study piano at an early age. She graduated from Jiangxi Normal University piano department. In 2000, she pursued further research study at Central Conservatory of Music. From 2006 till now, she serves as a faculty member of Shenzhen Senior High School and in charge of the piano accompaniment of Lily choir.

 

Piano Accompaniment: Jiang Jiawen
  Jiang began to learn piano from early age, she graduated from musical performance specialty in Shenzhen University, tutoring by associate professor Zhang Youdan. She have won the gold award of junior group in “The Third Cadenza cup of national youth competition” and “The 8th Outstanding Youth Selection in Art field (National finals) in Piano Major.”
She was also invited to play the piano solo in the 5th Shenzhen International Cultural Industries Fair in 2009 and performed with Vienna Festival Symphony Orchestra in “2010 New Year Concert” at Shenzhen Concert Hall.
