In this lecture, Dr. Wenhao Mu, Principal Conductor of the Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre, will take two Italian comic operas—Mozart's Così fan tutte and Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore—as examples to explore how opera, through humor and satire, reflects humanity’s eternal emotional dilemmas and the evolution of social values. In addition, outstanding vocalists from the Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theatre will perform live excerpts, inviting the audience to experience these classic arias not just as music to be heard, but as art that still speaks to us today.
